The Truth about Six pack Abs
Review - My Truthful take on this ebook
The truth about abs, by Mike Geary
(NCSF-CPT, AFAA-CPT), is a handbook on getting lean,
building lean muscle, and living a healthy lifestyle.
While the book is positioned as a manual to creating a
sexy 6 pack and changing our physical appearance it's much
more then that. The truth about 6 pack abs is an easy to
follow road map to changing how you eat and exercise to
get fit and toned.

A quick note about the Author
Mike Geary is a certified nutritionist and personal trainer.
He states in the beginning of the book:
“Everything you will read in this
manual comes from years of sound research as well as
hands-on experience with thousands of my clients for both
exercise strategies and nutrition strategies.
“
He lives and teaches this stuff that he writes about in The
Truth about six pack abs. He is an industry expert and is out
to teach how to lose fat and build lean muscle the right
way.
What the Truth about six pack abs covers
The book is broken down into three sections:
- The Introduction and important primer information about
leanness, body fat %, effective abdominal training, and
understanding our metabolic rate and how we burn
calories.
- Workouts and Mikes Effective training plan (which you
can do from home or a gym)
- Diet and Nutrition
The book spans 116 pages, but in the workout section there
are a lot of example pictures to ensure you fully understand
the exercises he's explaining (you can see the different
chapters in the book from the Table of Contents screen shot here).
The Training and Fitness of the Six Pack Abs program
Don't be intimidated about the thought of having to workout
for 2 hours every day of the week. The truth about abs training
program is broken down into two sections:
- Interval training
- Resistance and Weight training
Mike suggests that anything longer then 45-60 minutes isn't
giving you any more benefit in fat loss or muscle building. So
he breaks down his training program into 3-4 days a week for
45-60 minutes each day. I thought that was very realistic, and
the average working adult could fit that routine into their
current schedule.
You don't need to be a member at a gym, but Mike suggests
having at least a stability ball and set of dumb bells at home
to perform the suggested workouts. You can start off
The Truth about six pack abs program with no
equipment, but as you progress you'll want invest a couple
of bucks in those two items.
The Nutrition and Diet for The Truth About Abs Program
Mike is a big proponent of eating 5-6 small meals a day that
are similar in size. In The Truth about Abs he suggests eating
about every 3 hours when we're awake. I was glad to see he
supported something I've been doing now for about a year and
that's planning all of your meals for an entire week, and
only shop for the items you need for those meals.
Beyond planned and smaller more frequent meals Mike explains
how to calculate our daily calorie requirement, and use that as
a guide line for what and how much we should eat. I found this
section really interesting, because I've always hated the diet
industry. There's a whole section of the book dedicated to
explaining why fad and crash diets don't work.
Closing out the diet section of The Truth about abs Mike
gives a great table of example meal plans (see an example meal plan) for days
that you're training and days your not. This is really
detailed and actually provides the nutritional information
for each meal.
How to follow the Truth About Abs program
The easiest way to get started with Mike's program would be
to read through the entire book first. I'd make notes as you're
going through for reference because there is a lot covered.
Then start at the beginning again and start implementing what
he talks about.
Plan you're own workout routine, start making the
modifications to your diet and eating habits. One of the first
thing mikes says is:
“The nutrition section of this book
is vitally important to your success. Let me state this
loud and clear… if all you focus on is your training, and
your diet is full of junk, you WILL NOT see results! You
need to apply BOTH the training strategies as well as the
nutrition strategies if you want to make this work.
“
It's a must that you follow both the workout and nutrition
information if you want maximum results.
